Caldy Open Gardens on Sunday, 27 May

After a year off, Caldy Open Gardens is back with some brand new initiatives. This year we’re supporting Hoylake Cottage Dementia Day Care Centre, and the event is being sponsored by bradshaw farnham & lea.

From 1pm – 6pm on Sunday, 27 May, Caldy Village will welcome visitors to stroll around 12 private gardens. All different sizes and styles from pretty cottage gardens, to mature gardens packed with plants, to a coastal garden and the latest 21st century, minimalist garden, to inspire and entertain you.

As usual, there will be a large Plant Stall. So whether you’re stocking a brand new garden or fancy treating yourself to something special, make sure you come along before everything goes.

Caldy Church and Caldy Manor Care Home will also be opening their doors and gardens, and providing refreshments, making it a truly community event.

This year we’re doing more for children too, with free entry for the under 16s. From 1pm – 4.30pm, there will be a display of owls, of species native to the Wirral. So why not bring along your children & grandchildren for a close-up view and learn lots of fascinating facts about these amazing birds. There will be a free I-Spy Owl Trail round the gardens, & home baked owl cookies on sale.

Tea & Cake are back by popular demand, but not the waitress service. There will also be tea & coffee-to-go, barbecue sausages, Pimms and other delicious treats.

A select group of Wirral artisans will showcase their work. Whether you fancy commissioning an installation for your garden in wood, metal or clay, or buying a framed photo, a picture, greeting cards or driftwood artefacts, there will be something for every taste and pocket.

This year entry, £6 in advance till 25 May, and £7.50 on the day, will be via a programme giving details of all the gardens & other attractions helping you plan your visit.

Programmes available from early April from Hoylake Cottage & their Charity Shop; Le Bizz and Hintons in West Kirby; Beautiful Cards & Gifts in Greasby; Linghams in Heswall; My Gift Place in Neston; Pillar Box in Moreton; and Grove Road Post Office in Wallasey Village; and the West Kirby, Heswall and Chester branches of bradshaw farnham & lea.

So come along for a fun afternoon supporting a great cause
